It’s rare these days to see a seagoing vessel still using tarpaulins over its hatch covers to ensure watertightness. But every now and then, we still come across it.
One of our clients asked us to carry out a thorough inspection of the holds and hatch covers prior to loading, provide full attendance during the loading process, and supervise the covering of the hatches with tarpaulins afterward.
This meant that we briefly sailed along with the vessel and pilot, right up to the point where the real sea voyage could begin, with all protective measures securely in place.
