Weight and quantity determination can be performed by means of inspection of weighing scales and weigh bridges or by (manual or digital) measurements on liquid cargoes for example. However, in some cases, our inspectors have to grasp more specialist methods for weight determination, in particular when it comes to larger dry bulk cargoes. We here deliver gaugings of barges and draft surveys of coasters and sea-going vessels. The measurements performed by means of gauging and draft surveying have to be corrected by actual port water density, trim, ballast water, on board fuel and more. We make use of established international methods, such as the Geneva Convention for Gauging and the United Nations Code for Draught Surveying.

Geneva Convention for Gauging
The Geneva Convention on the Measurement of Inland Navigation Vessels has been elaborated by the United Nations in 1966 and has been signed by, among others, the European Union member states, and consists of rules for the draft measurement of barges and corresponding rules for calculations of cargo weight.

UN Code for Draft Surveying
The Code of Uniform Standards and Procedures for the Performance of Draught Surveys has been elaborated by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations in 1992, and consists of rules for the draft measurement of coasters and sea-going vessels and corresponding rules for calculations of cargo weight.
